The Tickford Racing Outplacement programme has provided our technicians with valuable and extensive application of their trade skills, as well as, providing variation in employment.
Our technicians have been engaged in various tasks such as, complex component machining and composite material fabrication, activities in which opportunities are expected to improve within the Fleet Support Unit but have been rare in recent history. It has also afforded them an opportunity to observe how teams in other lines of technical endeavours organise, combine, and execute tasking to achieve specified outcomes. For all of these reasons and from the feedback from our technicians and the manager of the Tickford team, the outplacement has been a success and is intended to be continued whilst both Navy and the Tickford team continue to benefit.
The Sailors have enjoyed the opportunity with a great deal of travel and opportunities to work in a high performance team in a dynamic environment. At the same time the Tickford team has been impressed by all the Navy members they have come into contact with, as well as, the input and dedication the assigned members have displayed on a daily basis.
“The outplacement program we have in place with the Royal Australian Navy is not only the first of its kind for our industry but one that has provided benefit far beyond anything we thought possible… They are dedicated, loyal and hard-working – the same traits you need to succeed in a top V8 Supercars team. We look forward to working closely with the Navy in the years to come as in the short time we’ve partnered with them we have all gained a lot from the relationship.”
